van*gloria, not vain-gloria

Thankfully, not all hurricanes are as severe as the ones that make headlines. Some of them are just torrential rainstorms overly-hyped by our local news castors, but we can't complain, days off of work and school give us creative projects like van*gloria!

Indie soul-rockers trained in some of South Florida's most prestigious music schools got together during a couple of '05 hurricanes and formed van*gloria. This 5 piece band is about to kick off their 2009 US tour, following their self-released album, "bluebird". (Frequently played on Local Radiation, particularly Track 5, "Miss Interstate", because I'm biased).

van*gloria was kind enough to come on our show and give us the scoop and a few laughs right before the big tour, which starts this weekend! Friday, May 15, van*gloria will be performing at The Vagabond. More info. can be found on their MySpace: van*gloria on MySpace.

Don't take it from me, but these guys are talented. Their soulful lyrics and jazzy rock tunes are difficult to categorize. Make your judgement: "Bluebird" is available for download for donation or for FREE on vangloria.net.
